Flute clocks designed by Matthias Naeschke

In his workshop in Haigerloch, Matthias Naeschke and his son Sebastian design finest flute clocks, precious table clocks and elegant long case clocks. Each of their clocks is a masterpiece of the art of clock making.

Flute clocks are a fascinating combination of mechanical clocks and organs. At a given time, music is played, operated by a musical barrel. The barrel is the core of each flute clock. Each barrel is individually designed by Matthias Naeschke, according to the wishes of the customer, hand crafted and perfectly adjusted.

Even nowadays, as 200 years ago, all the work is done manually. The required set of tools is also developed by the Naeschkes. The functional devices are made of stainless steel, which is hardened at the central parts. These clocks represent clock maker tradition at its best. For the clock cases, Father and son Naeschke lay great store on exquisite, matured timbers and their careful manufacturing.

The prime time of the flute clocks was by the end of the 18. century. Flute clocks were created for prosperous, cultivated customers. The most exquisite pieces were built in Vienna and Berlin, more simple flute clocks were manufactured in great numbers in the Black forest up to 1850.

The small work shop in the Haus Rose with its familiar character, were Paul Schwenk started his production of time switches in 1941 after he had moved from Stuttgart, has now grown into an epitome of finest clock making, not only in Germany, but world wide.
