Private residential housing: Better living with the living area control LUXOR

With the high-quality extension of the private villa in Bauhaus style in Metzingen near to Stuttgart, the customer had fulfilled a long-cherished desire. Naturally, for this dream house not only the highest demands are made with regard to architecture and interior design, but also on the technical side. The result can proverbially be seen: in the magazine 鈥濻ch枚ner Wohnen鈥, the house was awarded the 3rd place in the competition 鈥濰ome of the Year 2012鈥.

Central control via LUXOR

The house is fitted with large window surfaces and a domed skylight that have been equipped with roller blinds or blinds as sun protection. In the planning phase, the customer, as well as the architect did not see the necessity for a bus system and had initially designed the technical equipment of the building conventionally. However, when it came to controlling the sun protection, and in particular the grouping of vertical roller blinds in the dining and living area, the planning was revised on recommendation of the installation engineer. The Theben LUXOR living area control than took the stage.

Sun protection at window facades and skylight domes is controlled via versatile time programs of the LUXOR system, exact to the second and for different days of the week.

Time controlled sun protection and lighting

LUXOR is a control system that can be used flexibly for private residential construction, offices, doctors practices or smaller shops. In the Bauhaus villa, LUXOR ensured for the efficient, reliable and automated control of the vertical roller blinds as well as for the shading of the domed skylight.

Using versatile time programs, the processes such as the roller blinds or light control can be controlled for different weekdays down to the second. As an alternative, the astro function provides the option to control the roller blinds, blinds or even awnings after sunrise or sunset. This allows the day and sunlight to be used in an optimum manner - even for heat gain. This allows the LUXOR to also act as an efficient energy saving solution. However, LUXOR can also be fun: the screen for the home cinema is controlled using the LUXOR roller blind control and nothing will get in the way of your cinema evening.

LUXOR controls the lighting in the entire house. The lighting can be adapted infinitely using the dimming module. This allows different lighting moods to be programmed and, when desired, be selected.

Safety benefit from integrated weather station

The weather station ensures for more comfort and safety. If individually adjustable thresholds are exceeded or not met. For example when a storm arises or the sun rays are too strong, the weather station reports this to the switching module and ensures that the roller blinds and blinds are opened or closed requirement-orientated.

Effective burglary protection due to presence simulation

Another benefit of the LUXOR system that the customer likes to use is the presence simulation. This allows the switching processes of the past 14 days to be repeated automatically. If the residents are away, the house still looks like someone is living there - an indispensable protection against burglary. The panic function also contributes to this: when clicking on the panic button, pre-defined lights are switched on in the house and curtains are opened or closed. Such as by suspicious noises. Moreover, when leaving the house predefined consumers can be switched on or off in a an absolutely safe manner using the ON/OFF function.

Managing director Josef Sch盲fer of Elektro Sch盲fer, award winner of the 鈥濫LMAR 2012鈥, explains how house owners can make changes to the switching and dimming modules by using a screwdriver.

Easy operation and harmonic design

LUXOR is the perfect living area control for private buildings. Without programming knowledge, the house owners can make changes to the switching and dimming module in the switch cabinet using a screwdriver. The cost-intensive authorisation of an installation engineer is therefore omitted. Naturally the individual functions can also be called up via the LUXOR multifunction display. Its text navigated user interface makes its operation to child鈥榮 play.

LUXOR can be used with any switch range. This allows design-focused customers to have all switches integrated into the door frames by a carpenter. The satisfactory result: a harmonic wall design without switches.
