Designed for LED lamps: The new Theben staircase time switch ELPA 6 plus

(Haigerloch, 1^th April 2015) With the new ELPA 6 plus, Theben presents a staircase time switch with switch-off warning for LED lamps. Thanks to the extended single pulse, the switch-off warning is reliably visible also with LED lamps.

The ELPA 6 plus staircase time switch from Theben is especially designed for the use with LED lamps and switch-off warning. Instead of a double pulse, as with the Theben ELPA 6 for energy saving lamps, the ELPA 6 plus uses an extended single pulse. In this way, the switch-off warning becomes reliably visible. This reduces the number of switch-on cycles, and the connected LED lamps are additionally protected. This especially pays off in staircases, since lamps are switched on a lot within a short time, which might lead to a premature damage of the lamps or the electronic ballast.

ELPA 6 plus has been optimised for LED lamps, for instance in staircases of multi-family houses, common rooms or in functional and commercial buildings. The low standby power of only 0.9 Watt ensures maximum energy efficiency.

In accordance with DIN 18015-2, the automatic switch-off of lighting systems in staircases of multi-family dwellings must be fitted with a warning function, in order to avoid sudden darkness. While very short switch-off pulses are used with energy saving lamps, in order to extend their life, these short pulses are not optimally suited for LED lamps, since the switch-off pulse is partially buffered. Thus, the switch-off warning is not or only hardly visible. The Theben ELPA 6 plus staircase time switch ensures optimum visibility of the warning and a long life of the LEDs.
